Decorative stones, cobbles, pebbles, gravel and slate chippings in a range of sizes and colours. Ideal for achieving modern and creative effects quickly and easily in gardens and driveways.
Decorative aggregates come in a huge range of shapes, sizes, colours and types of stone – and this variety is reflected in our range here at Madingley Mulch.
They can be divided into 3 main types:
Decorative Stone Chippings
Small stones and stone chippings (also known as decorative gravel) are perhaps the most widely used decorative aggregates, as they provide an economical and easy way to achieve a landscaped look in gardens and driveways. Typically 10mm or 20mm in size, they are available in a variety of colours and shapes – from smooth round stones to rough stone chips. We stock a variety of stone chippings in different types of stone including coloured granite chippings, traditional golden gravel and white gravel (both ever popular choices for driveways), cotswold buff and limestone chippings.
Pebbles and Cobbles
Pebbles are small rounded stones which are typically up to 4cm in size. Their rounded shape is visually appealing, helping to soften the effect of hard landscaping, as well as being a somewhat safer option for children and pets. We stock a range of decorative pebbles including 20-30mm Scottish Pebbles, 20mm Blue Stone, 40mm Round Stone and 20mm or 40mm Lydd Beach Pebbles.
Cobbles are larger, highly rounded stones, typically up to 15cm in size. Many of these are produced naturally by the action of waves and it is perhaps their natural appearance which makes decorative cobbles so popular. They are especially good for edging paths and borders, as their size naturally discourages people from walking on them. We stock 50-80mm Scottish Cobbles and larger 80-150mm Cobbles.
Slate Chippings
Slate chippings are small pieces of slate, graded into different sizes. They are popular as a decorative stone due to the range of natural colours available, enabling a wide range of creative effects in modern gardens. They are particularly popular in minimalist gardens that have more hard landscaping and less planting, where they help to add subtle colour all year round. Slate chips are less likely to be dug into by cats and other animals, due to the weight and the shape of the pieces. Our range includes green, plum (our biggest seller) and blue slate chippings in 20mm and 40mm sizes.
All of our decorative aggregates are available in half cubic metre bulk bags with many available in smaller quantities or able to be delivered as loose loads to homes, building sites or commercial premises by arrangement.
