Soil
Gardeners often need to buy soil when creating a new garden or laying a lawn. Alternatively, you may want to buy garden soil because your own soil is low on nutrients and needs a boost. Our popular Black Fen Soil is suitable for adding organic matter to impoverished soils and lowering PH, ideal to use as a surface for laying turf or lawn seed. It also provides a good background colour for all planting schemes. We also stock brown soil and a soil-sand mix, as well as soils which already have conditioners added. Our Blended Loam soil is a screened loam combined with conditioners, while our own recipe Denise’s Delight is a nurturing mix of fen soil, composted horse manure and wood shavings, ideal for raised beds and growing vegetables.
Soil Conditioners and Compost
Using garden compost or soil conditioners can make a big difference to your garden’s yields. Tony’s Tonic is our own special recipe combining composted horse manure and wood shavings to deep-condition your soil. We also offer an organic soil improver made from green waste which has been composted, as well as a spent mushroom compost, which works to break down heavy clay soil and improve drainage. Another option is our lawn dressing, which includes sharp sand and peat blended with loam, to feed the roots of your grass.
Soil, Soil Conditioner and Compost Delivery
The quality of your garden’s soil affects almost every aspect of how you use your garden, from what you can grow there to drainage and turf quality, so it is worth investing in. At Madingley Mulch we offer compost, soil conditioners and topsoil delivery to your premises in the Cambridge area. Our delivery service means you do not have to collect large amounts of heavy garden topsoil or bulk compost supplies yourself, but can have it brought to your site and then concentrate on the job of getting it into the ground.
As experienced topsoil suppliers, we at Madingley Mulch are able to advise you on the best soil, conditioner or compost for your needs before you place your order. If you have any detailed queries, just call us and we will do our best to help. For instance, some parts of the Cambridge area have soils which are rich in clay, so we can discuss with you how best to work with and enhance this type of soil.
We deliver to homes and businesses and also to allotments, although here we would normally have to meet customers on site as allotments are often locked. If you require a combination of bagged products, we can deliver any combination to you within the same load.
